Dear Foodie Friends,

The month of March brings a fresh opportunity to renew our commitment to health, wellness, and the pure magic of good food. As we focus on embracing nourishing choices that fuel our bodies and uplift our spirits, we say goodbye to the cold, gloomy months of winter and usher in a joyful springtime!
Take time to get out more and explore foodie adventures— bring friends along to discover local restaurants, try new cuisines, and enjoy the magic of dining experiences that inspire and delight.

Whether it’s savoring a meal at your favorite spot or discovering hidden gems, these experiences connect us to community and culture in the most delicious ways.   gems, these experiences connect us to community and culture in the most delicious ways.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: The National Restaurant Association warns that proposed tariffs on food and beverage imports could cost the industry over $12 billion, leading to higher menu prices and strained profit margins. With food costs already making up about 33% of sales, small operators could see profits decline by 30%—putting many at risk of closing their doors. (Bloomberg)

Several major restaurant chains have already filed for bankruptcy or closed locations due to financial strain, highlighting why supporting local restaurants matters now more than ever. Rising costs and economic challenges are making it increasingly difficult for independent restaurants to survive, threatening not just individual businesses but entire communities. Every time a restaurant closes, it’s not just a loss for the owner—it affects farmers, suppliers, delivery workers, and the many employees who rely on the industry for their livelihoods. It also reduces the variety and richness of dining options that make our neighborhoods special.

Local restaurants are more than just places to eat—they are hubs of creativity, culture, and economic growth. They bring people together, celebrate diverse culinary traditions, and contribute to the vibrancy of our cities and towns. Without them, we risk losing the unique flavors and experiences that define American dining.

By choosing to support local restaurants—whether by dining in, ordering takeout, or simply spreading the word—we help sustain these vital businesses during challenging times. Every meal purchased locally is a step toward preserving culinary diversity and economic resilience for our entire community.
So please continue to make thoughtful choices, seek out delicious meals, and let the magic of food continue to nourish us all.

2 whole large potatoes, plus cream for mashing
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 teaspoon steak seasoning
1 tablespoon Muir Glen™ organic tomato ketchup
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup frozen vegetables (peas, carrots or mixed)
1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet
Instructions:
Step 1
Heat oven to 375°F. Lightly spray 12 standard muffin cups with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2
Peel and quarter potatoes and boil in salted water until tender (about 15 minutes).
Step 3
While the potatoes cook, heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and steak seasoning and cook until browned, occasionally using a spoon to break up the meat.
Step 4
Add ketchup, Worcestershire sauce and frozen vegetables to skillet and cook 2-3 minutes until heated through. Taste for seasoning and add salt or pepper as necessary. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 5
Unroll crescent dough on lightly floured work surface. Press dough into a 12x9-inch rectangle, and cut into 12 evenly sized squares. Place one square of dough in each muffin cup, gently pressing dough into bottom and up sides of cup.
Step 6
Drain and mash potatoes, adding cream as needed and seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
Step 7
Fill each dough cup with 1-2 tablespoons of beef filling then top with a spoonful of mashed potato.
Step 8
Bake 15-20 minutes until dough is golden brown. Cool 5 minutes before serving.

Third Culture Is Now THE NEW Culture in American Dining

Hello Foodie Friends,

American dining has always been a melting pot of culinary influences, but today, a new and exciting chapter is unfolding—third culture cuisine is no longer on the fringes; it is the culture. As diners become more adventurous and globally curious, restaurants across the United States are embracing hybrid culinary experiences that blend traditional flavors with modern techniques and multicultural narratives. The result? An evolving dining landscape where boundaries blur, and creativity thrives.
